Your children's teeth are an important part of their body. Teeth not only allow kids to chew their food and form sounds correctly; they also can contribute to their confidence and self-esteem. Creating a regular routine for home care and visiting the dentist twice a year can keep little smiles healthy and bright, and ensure that adult teeth come in straight and strong.

What to Expect at a First Visit

Your child should see the dentist at the age of 1 year, or within 6 months of the appearance of his or her first tooth. A quick checkup will be done and x-rays taken to ensure the baby teeth are growing properly. If your child has multiple teeth already, they'll be counted and quickly cleaned.

Preparing your Child

It helps to know what to expect when taking your child to the dentist for the first time, or taking them to a new dentist they haven't met before. Preparing your child is key, so read a few books about going to the dentist, or take them along to an appointment of your own so they can see that there's nothing to be anxious about.

Meet Your Child's Dentist

Our doctors will be seeing your child to make sure their teeth and gums are healthy. The doctors liked going to the dentist when they were children themselves, and they have made it their goal to ensure all children who sit in their chairs feel comfortable and safe. They're always willing to answer questions, so you can encourage your child to ask.

How Long Will the Visit Take?

A first visit or check-up will generally take about an hour. This could likely include radiographs, an exam and a cleaning (and would be less for younger children). Treatment appointments will fall along the same timeline and will be discussed at the time of scheduling.

What are my Payment and Insurance Options?

Our dental practice is in-network with many popular insurance plans, including Aetna, Guardian, Cinga Radius, Anthem- 100, 200, 300, Complete plans, Medicaid, Humana, Met Life and Delta Dental Premiere.
