Meet Our Team

Kaci, EFDA

As an expanded functions dental assistant, Kaci Koons loves the collective team relationship and their ability to work well together at Smile Time Kids. Certified Dental Assistant, Kaci, first became interested in the dental industry because her best friend was doing it - and Kaci has loved it ever since. Her upbeat personality and caring attitude make her the
perfect fit for working with the children at the Smile Time Kids. Residing in Alexandria, IN, Kaci has been working in the
dental field for over 13 years.

Not having gone to the dentist until she was 16 years, Kaci understands the importance of regular dental visits and
proper oral care - perhaps better than anyone! Her past experience is what motivates her to educate the young patients at Smile Time Kids to maintain excellent oral hygiene as a lifelong goal.

In her spare time, you may find Kaci at Starbucks reading a great book. She also enjoys watching her three sons play sports and going camping.

Doug, EFDA

As an expanded function dental assistant at Smile Time Kids, Doug assists the dentist with day-to-day procedures and
ensures they’re seeing patients in a timely fashion. Doug says, “we provide the best care possible for a positive dental
experience.” Doug helps with this by efficiently handling tasks and always being eager to learn more.

An Indiana native, Doug received his education at Ivy Tech Community College of Anderson, and currently lives in
Noblesville. His favorite part about working at Smile Time Kids is “getting to interact with the smallest of patients who show the greatest amount of courage.”

Doug originally wanted to join the dental profession after learning about teeth in anatomy and physiology classes. “I also have always taken care of my teeth. I had braces for over three and have cared about my oral health.” Today, the best part of his job is the bonds he makes with fellow employees and the relationships he builds over time.

After a negative experience with the dentist as a child, Doug didn’t return to the dentist until he was 15 years old - to have braces put on. This, in part, is what motivates him to give patients the most positive dental experience possible so that children grow up enjoying their visits to the dentist and being enthusiastic about their oral health.

In his free time, Doug loves camping or relaxing with his boyfriend and two dogs, visiting Indianapolis with his friend Raven, and playing video games. Doug’s greatest achievement is serving in the military, touring in Afghanistan and Kuwait.

Melissa, Dental Assistant

Richmond native Melissa says she loves seeing the smiles on kids’ faces when she comes to work every day! She has been working in dentistry for the last 17 years after graduating from the Professional Careers Institute’s dental assistant program in 2002 and from Colorado Tech with an associate’s degree in 2012. She decided to study dentistry after remembering her positive experiences with dental visits growing up. In her role at Children’s Dental Center, Melissa assists our dentists chairside, performing expanded dental functions such as placing fillings, crowns and spacers. She loves her job, saying “I love working with my team and doing what I love every day. I have a passion for helping people.” When she’s not assisting our dentists, Melissa enjoys spending time with her son and daughter and says her kids are her greatest achievement. She also loves to watch football and take motorcycle rides. When asked whom she most admires, she says: “My mother, because she did so much for me and my sister as a single parent.”

Darah, Business Assistant & OR Coordinator

Darah obtained her education from Dental Career Foundations in 2013 and since then, she has built a career in the dental field that caters to her beloved Richmond community. Outside of work, Darah loves relaxing and spending time with her Fiancé and their family, attending the Richmond’s Farmer’s Market, reading, hiking and taking her kids to their sports activities.

Elizabeth, Licensed Dental Hygienist

Elizabeth became a dental hygienist because she loved going to the dentist as a kid and wanted a job where she could make people feel the way she did growing up. As one of our Registered Dental Hygienist Elizabeth takes pride in treatment care, educating patients and providing an enjoyable experience. She loves helping our patients with their teeth and creating long lasting smiles. Your child should see the dentist at the age of 1 year, or within 6 months of the appearance of his or her first tooth. A quick checkup will be done and x-rays taken to ensure the baby teeth are growing properly. If your child has multiple teeth already, they'll be counted and quickly cleaned.
